Trina's 3 Layout Class

Thank you for visiting my blog today.  How is your week going?  April already. 

A few weeks ago I attended Trina McClune's class at Artful Crafts.  It was lovely to meet Trina again and she did not disappoint with the three lovely layouts she had designed for the class using the beautiful 'Something Blue' Prima papers and embellishments.

I didn't quite get the three finished in the 2 1/2 hours but enjoyed putting the finishing touches on at home.   It was also a good opportunity to get some more DD's wedding photos scrapped.  Here they are...

Layout #1 -



 

Layout #2 - I liked how this one could be this way or as Trina had it with the tags dropping down.  It worked well to include the Marriage Celebrant's folder and marriage certificate photo.  However another reason for attending the class was to rekindle my mojo and I found I was more out of touch than I thought when I realised I had created the page on the reverse side of the bazzill card (lol) so to add a bit of texture I put on some gel paste with a 'Tim Holtz' mask and added some iridescent paint so the page did not look as flat.   Also love that punch at the bottom - unfortunately not one in my collection.

Layout #3 - And Trina did it again with this lovely design.  Those gorgeous doilies Trina gave us were put to extra use with the circle photo at the bottom.  



 

The alpha are painted with iridescent paint to give them the more wedding type flavour.

 

 And once again love those cute little frames.

An Exploding Box Wedding Card

On 15 February we were honoured to attend a wedding at "The Venue", Lake Wanaka.  It was a perfect day and everything was beautiful.  We were well looked after by the Bride and Groom's Parents.  "The Venue" and staff were amazing.


My mojo has been MIA over the past couple of months and the only creativity has been for gifts.  This is the card I made the happy couple.  The reason I made an exploding box card with a cake in it was to accommodate a special keepsake.  You may remember last year I made an easel card with a little horseshoe/bird on it - well it was from the mould of this original.  This original was on the groom's parents and grandparents' cake so this was my way of carrying on the tradition.

 Once the lid is lifted this is what appears.  The little pouches contain messages and the hidden gift of a prezzy card. 

 The top of the lid includes the date of the wedding. The cardstock is embossed with tiny butterflies.  The lace motif above is from my stash,

A close-up of the inside with the cake topped with a little treasure and trimmed with punched cardstock, pearl beaded ribbon, liquid pearls and flowers.  They seemed very pleased with the outcome.  

 

Quite a bit of work went into this mainly due to the missing mojo and being the first exploding box \I have made from scratch so a little trial and error.  It was lots of fun though and I was very pleased with the outcome.

Celebration - 50 Years Married

Was it really 50 years ago that I was a flower girl in a little red dress?  Well yes it was so this weekend I got to share in the celebration with my Aunt and Uncle and many more relations.  We had a lovely two days of celebrations and a bonus was the event was in Dunedin so we were able to catch up on our girls and dear grandsons as well. 

Last week I created this gift for them and included some of their invitation in the project as well.

Papers are Marion Smith Designs available at Embellish It.  I reused the invitation and bordered it with Manor doily borders.  Flowers are a mix of Prima and Wild Orchid.  Alpha, clock and resin hearts and metal heart are PRIMA.  The pearl beads are vintage found at a market and the metal keys from Nic Howard.   The photo is framed with a Dusty Attic piece.

Texture is added with gauze tape, lace, texture paste alpha and gel gloss medium shapes.

 and then framed in a Kaisercraft frame.

I will enter this layout in the Once Upon a Sketch January Sketch Challenge and also Dusty Attic January challenge.  I have used a DA piece behind the photo.

For OUAS my journaling is on the reverse of the layout.  I have learnt that "marriage is a partnership during the good times and bad."  This couple have been an inspiration. 

This has been a very challenging post - Our Xmas present was a new computer and it is Windows 8 with dual touch screen or keyboard.  Well the keyboard is slightly different to what I am used to with separate caplock and shift key and I keep hitting the wrong one.  Also I do not have photo editing available on it yet to make the journaling photo smaller.  Also I had trouble pasting the http address into the link box as a paste box appeared and disappeared before I could click it.  I thought that it wouldn't be too difficult when I am used to a smart touch phone but wrong!!!  so thanks for bearing with me.  It has taken 24 hours so far and had to edit the above on the old slow computer to make them smaller. 

Any tips appreciated...

SATW - 'Wonder'

Thank you for taking the time to stop at my blog today.  Your visit is truly appreciated.

This month I really enjoyed playing along with Scrap Around the World's Mood Board September Challenge.  I was inspired by the little girl holding an adult's hand and also the top right image design together with the 'Black and White'.  It was a perfect opportunity to use these photos I have been intending to scrap for some time as well as the Bo Bunny patterned paper.   The mood board...

I called the layout 'Wonder' as the flower girl and page boy contemplate with amazement and bewilderment the important task in hand on 'the big day'.  The top right hand image also has a wonder and amazement feel to it and the busy patterned paper I used depicts the image also.  My Great niece is holding her Mum's hand and the pageboy his father's hand as they walk back down the aisle after the ceremony.  Also love the way father and son have their hands held while the ceremony was taking place.

So here is my page....

I used some luminiere paint to add some lavender to the BB Enchanted 'Love' paper to blend the flowers and paper together.  Shapes were cut  from the Enchanted "Fairytale" paper and used to matt/highlight the heads of the images.  Bo Bunny Enchanted embellishments were also used together with Manor House lace flower, a few Wild Orchid flowers, Websters Pages heart and some muslin and organza.

 The paper had black glitter pattern on it although this is hard to see in the photo.

Journalling and details of the day are on the back of the layout.

July and Wedding Card

Where has July gone?  I see it is three weeks since my last post - busy times.  I had made a couple of cards earlier in the month but had to wait until they have been received before blogging them and with last week of term usually ultra busy and heading off to Dunedin to visit the girls and my DGS for a week there just hasn't been any spare time.  Anyway I arrived home last night and can't speak today so it is a good opportunity to catch up on blogging and I have finally signed up to 'Bloglovin' since Google Reader is no longer, so that resulted in a major blog catchup (3 weeks worth). 

However I had a lovely time in Dunedin and lots of fun with little Zac -  albeit a sore throat arrived on Tuesday and has culminated in no voice and the aches and coughs which go with this nasty which they say can last a while (Grrrr and it is in the holidays!!!). DH has it as well although the worst seemed to be over before I came home thank goodness (Man flu LOL)

So back to the post.  Today I am sharing a card and box made for a wedding on the other side of the world.  Unfortunately my photos were taken very late at night and are not as good as I would like but it was off on it's journey the next morning (and I slept in) so not enough time to take any more.   It took a very long time to create this project and do you know that horseshoe ornaments/embellishments  are very hard to come by when time is limited.  A friend gave me a little vintage china horseshoe with a bird on it and was happy for me to use it on this card but as it had been on her's and her parent's wedding cakes I felt it wasn't the right thing to do especially when she has a son getting married early next year so then the race was on to get some Pinkysil and make a mould.  It arrived at the 19th hour and was a bit of trial and error however in the end all was okay (just hope it still looked like that when it arrived at it's destination).

 The patterned papers for this easel card  are Kaisercraft True Romance.  Some fussy cutting was combined with the collections pack and tags of the tag sheet.  The base and box cardstock is available at Embellish It.  Sorry I cannot remember the name of it but it is embossed with little butterflies.  Flowers are mainly Wild Orchids with a couple of Prima Fabric flowers as well.  The horseshoe doubled as the 'stay' for the easel card.

 The verse was printed onto the tag and a further tag underneath is for the personal message.  The little bird proved a challenge with the Pinkysil mould as it was hard to get the resin in without air bubbles so I had to do a few repair/sculpting jobs on the beak and tiny wings with modelling paste and then painted over top  with gesso and liquid pearls. 

 

The bride loves pastel colours, lace and horseshoes so I hope she liked it. 

I really hope I have more energy and feel like creating tomorrow as I have soooo much to do this week.  I have a feeling it will just fly by then it will be back to work and all go before heading down south again to help with shifting on the 2nd - very excited about that though.

True Romance

Another week has flown by and it is hard to believe that it is 28 June already.  I hope you have had good week.  Thank you for visiting my blog today.

I have enjoyed a creative June and managed to participate in 7 challenges which would have to be a record for me.  Sadly during the week it was announced that NZPaper Chase is to cease publication.  It has been published since 2004 first as Up2Scrap and then more recently as NZPaperChase.  I was lucky enough to be part of the 2010 Elite Team for the Up2Scrap magazine.  However it is hoped that the NZPaperChase Facebook Group may continue which is a good network for NZ paper crafters and friends.

Today I am sharing another layout created with the lovely Kaisercraft "True Romance" collection which was perfect for a wedding layout. All these papers and collection pieces are currently  available at Embellish It. 

 I couldn't resist putting a lock and key on the page since that is one of the wedding gifts that they received to put on Timaru's Matrimonial Bridge - See previous "Love Lock" post.

 The large flower was one I had in my stash - a dismantled fabric flower from the 'Warehouse' and put together again with a brad.

 the 'happiness' title was already on the paper but I used the sticker sheet to pop them up with foam squares to add dimension.  I used the new Kasier 12 x 12 Damask Template to add texture to the page.  Gel Medium was applied and once dry some iridescent medium to add more dimension.  The butterflies were also cut from the sticker sheet strip.

Well I have plenty to keep me occupied for the weekend - a wedding card, birthday card,  some kit instructions for some upcoming classes and I also have a Nic Howard kit that I am eager to get on to so perhaps I had better go and get motivated.

Golden Wedding

It is hard to believe that a week of the holidays has gone already.  I have just returned from four nights in Dunedin visiting family and having fun with with Zac but have returned early due, sadly, to the funeral  of a special lady tomorrow.

I was busy creating earlier in the week and today I am sharing a Golden Wedding Anniversary Card created with Prima Lyric papers, a Prima Bling strip and Prima clock face and hands.  .

 Flowers are Wild Orchids and key (Nic Howard on Trade Me) and lock is Prima.

 The clock surround is also from Nic Howard on Trade Me and I painted it with white Gesso and touched with gold dabber paint.

 I did some fussy cutting from the paper and layered it on top for dimension. 

The warm temperatures were certainly welcome today - back to summer clothes.  It is very quiet around here tonight with no TV.  Doesn't worry me at all but someone else will be missing it.  We had a temporary job done in the busy time before Christmas and the man was to return and complete the job in January - we are very patient and reminded him about a month ago - he was then coming two weeks ago and we haven't seen him yet.  All was working until DH put in a new post to attach the aerial to and it hasn't worked again since. Not sure how long the patience will last now lol.

Anyway I will leave you with a Zac pic taken on my phone at the Otago Museum Butterflies on Friday.  (another one to add to the scrapping pile speaking of which one job I achieved while away was putting all his photos since birth into an album so they are now much more orderly although lots of duplicates too.)

I just love the Prima Lyric Collection of papers and couldn't resist scrapping my grandparent's wedding photo with them.  I included a little mixed media with  lots of flowers and liquid pearls.  Please let me know what you think.

 I used a pretty lace motif from my stash down the right side. 

 The little lily of the valley flowers below are recycled from my floral gifts given for the birth of our first born many years ago.

 a cute little Prima wooden bird is included and it was finished with liquid pearls.

 a variety of flowers were used including Green Tara, Wild Orchids and Prima.

I have created another two layouts with the Prima Engraver collection which will also be on display.  When I first received the papers I thought they would be challenging but no - they are lots of fun and quite versatile.
