Back again....  Thank you for stopping by today.

Today I am posting another layout  - a photo of my DD#2's family. 

Created with Kaisercraft papers (I think), Prima tags, Manor House doily together with some moulding paste and liquid pearls.  Quite a simple page for me but I am pleased with it.

I have joined in with the Stuck 1 August Challenge with this one.

Crafting for all Seasons

It has been a while since I blogged.  Usually winter provides a great excuse to hold up in the scrap room under the bright light and create.  Just now it seems that my mojo is MIA again and Saturday's are recovery days from the previous week of work and cold nights are not encouraging me to warm up the scrap room and create either. 

However a few weeks ago I did enjoy creating this 40th Birthday card with the Julie Nutting doll stamp. 

I used a Prima tag and Kaisercraft papers, die cuts and tag left over from some time ago.  The small tag is removable and has the birthday message on it.

I must apologise for the photo which really needed brightening up a bit to do it justice but I am still not organised in the photo editing department since getting a new computer.

I have entered this in the 'Crafting for all Seasons' challenge with the title "Don't be Square"

Hello Baby Boy - Stuck 1 March challenge

Thanks for calling by today. 

A Miracle did happen.  It is 9.45 p.m. here and I did get the Stuck 1 March Challenge started and completed since my last post a few hours ago.

Here is my page of the DGS#2 meeting his Mum and Dad feeding the first feed the day he was born 4 weeks early and weighing 5lb 4oz. 

I have used  Kaisercraft 'Bundle of Joy - It's a Boy' Papers and made the most of the printed images at the same time following the sketch below. I went a bit crazy with the liquid pearls to add some texture.  I have been using this paper collection for the numerous scan photos as well so am coming to the end of the collection.  It's good to use all the bits up so hopefully by the end of the weekend I will have achieved that.

My 2013 Favourite Creations - Happy New Year

Hello Everyone -
Happy New Year - Wishing you all Health and Happiness for 2014.

It was a very quiet New Year this year apart from the delight and joy of my 2 yr old DGS who is having a holiday at Granny's at the moment.   Today I am playing along with 'A Scrapjourney's' 'Five Favourite Creations of 2013" challenge.  ... and what a hard one it is too - just to pick five so here we go..... and there could be a few more.

The first one - a Heritage layout - I love creating with old photos and this  one just went together so well and I still love it.

Next up - the Scrapbooking highlight of the year was attending Finnibair's class at Rolleston in March.  Attending Finnibair's class ticked off one of my 2013 goals - to learn more about and gain confidence in mixed media scrapbooking.  I was on a buzz for weeks after this class.  This next layout was inspired by what I learned there but with my twist.

Next up - a layout from a sketch at Scrapfriends where this was slightly away from my 'normal' style adding a few textures etc.

1st Snow Day

October 12 saw the early arrival of my DGS Jake and I loved creating with the Prima Delight collection.  Also this layout is a rare case of me scrapping myself.

and No 5 - it is getting harder but I am going to include another in the Prima Delight Collection of my parents meeting Jake.

Well that is five but Debby said a few more could be slipped in so here is my one and only Christmas project and a couple of special cards made throughout the year. - my Dad has  been making some shadow box frames for the dimensional projects so this now has one of his frames around it.

How Sweet is this little 'Santa's Helper"?

Half way though December already and welcome to Post #299 - hard to believe both.  I started blogging in 2010 just after Autumn Escape as a new challenge at the time.  I am booked for AE2014 so looking forward to that too. .  

I had a play with Nic Howard's pressed metal pieces to make the tree.      Papers are Kaisercraft 'Turtle Dove' collection from last year.  I used the stickersheet to layer behind the tree and added a few more bits. 
 ... a few closeups.

 The little parcels were made using book paper.  A little bit of gauze was added for softness and texture.

 

How cute is this little 'Santa's helper'?

We have had a lovely surprise this weekend - a visit from our daughter and 2 DGS's - just what I needed as I hadn't seen them for 5 weeks and thought I would have to wait until Christmas. 

I have entered this layout into the Southern Girls Christmas Challenge.

Yummy Scrap #18

I was looking for some inspiration to get me going when Joanne from Embellish It gave me the KaiserCraft 'Garage' papers to create with and came across the Scrapfriends Colour Challenge "Yummyscrap' #18 so thought I would give it a go together with the Sketchabilities Sketch #102 (which I am too late to enter as I had written down the 15th and not 13th. )

However here is how it turned out.

The Kaisercraft 'Garage' Collection is great for male layouts and should you want any Embellish It currently have them in stock.
My layout is of Zac and his Dad on Father's Day back in September - a special 'boys' breakfast.  He has been in his element over the past week having had his Grandad visiting and at one time had two grandfathers and his great grandfather all at once.  He invites the males into his room to play 'cars and trucks' and will spend hours there.  If anyone disturbs he very politely says 'bye' 'bye'.  Very cute.

Well that is all for today.  Feeling a bit under the weather with a fluey thing that is going around work at the moment.

Hidden Treasure - Gran

WOW - posting for a third day in a row and the final reveal (for now) of creations made with the new Kaisercraft "Hidden Treasure" range available from Joanne of Embellish It.

This time I did not follow a sketch as this shaped paper is already so well embellished with a border and embossing that not a lot else is needed.

 I felt the paper was perfect for the colours in the photo of my Great Gran taken in the 1970s. The verse is a rubon from the collection .

 I added some special tatted lace (the last piece of this which I reserve for special layouts).  Gran was a 'tatter'.  ...and I have finished the trim with you guessed it - some liquid pearls.  I can't seem to do a project without them these days. Ideal when you just need that something else.

Well that is short and sweet today and I am not likely to be back this week as I will have my hands full taking care of and having fun with DGS.

Vintage Fashion

Hello again and thank you for visiting today.  I am back again with another layout created with the new KaiserCraft "Hidden Treasure" Collection.

This time I thought I would enter the Dusty Attic September Challenge with it.

After creating the base of the layout I then used texture paste to add texture and pattern with a template.  I felt the page need blinged up a bit to match the photos so I dug into my hidden treasures and found some mesh trim and two lots of bead trim. I even found some pheasant feathers to add.   Dusty Attic items include the word 'may', hinge and chicken wire.

 Some flowers are Petaloo with two being from deep within my stash.  I used another bit of this precious vintage trim.  There is a lovely sheet of rubons with the collection also.

 It has been a while since I have added beads to a layout.

 and of course I finished off the title pieces with liquid pearls.

Remember Joanne at Embellish It has these Kaisercraft "Hidden Treasure" patterned papers in stock if you wish to source some. 

I am pretty excited as I am off to see my DGS and bring him up to Grannie's for a holiday however I will post a third "Hidden Treasure" page tomorrow.

Hidden Treasure & Scrapfriends

Thank you for visiting my blog today.  Welcome if you are here for the first time and 'Welcome Back' if you have come again.  Your visits are truly appreciated. 

I am having a late run on challenges so decided to use my Design Team work for Embellish It  to create a page using the new release KaiserCraft 'Hidden Treasure' papers.  ... or as I was doing DT work decided to base it on the inspiration of a challenge so for this one I chose ScrapFriends.  I love their sketches but I think this is the first one done in time to enter.  They also have wonderful tutorials as well.

This is Sketch challenge #17 except I sort of flipped it upside down and moved my photo to the right side to suit both the paper and the direction of the photo (hope this is allowed SF)

and my take on the sketch. using the new Kaisercraft "Hidden Treasure" collection 

 I added some texture paste arrows and some real vintage buttons together with some very old cord alpha from myh stash. The page is of my DGS with the little wooden plane my Mum brought him.  Really I wish I had had the time to go and get the photo flipped to face the right instead of having to move the sketch arrangement but it wasn't to be.

 Of course I had to add some liquid pearls.

A Blast from the Past

Thanks for visiting today.  It seems like it's been a long week.....  Lucky it is a short one next week with South Canterbury Anniversary Day on Monday although with it being last week of term it will be an extra busy one.  Unfortunately my long weekend "Get Away" has not gone to plan so maybe some creating will suffice.   I am currently waiting on some molding paste to dry so that is a start.

Today I am sharing the layouts created for the class I took at the Embellish It Raincliff Retreat last month.  They are certainly a 'blast from the past' as they are made with resurrected wedding photos which I have been trying my best to 'bring back' after going all brown in the album due to the bad toner of 1978.   The class was called "Pretty It Is" and was created with Kaisercraft True Romance patterned papers and collectables.  It got the name when I asked someone what sort of class they would like and they said "something pretty". 

The mesh is grungeboard cut with a die.

 

 The large flower is from a haberdashery shop and purchased by the metre.  Small flowers are Wild Orchids.

 Once again it was great to see all the outcomes with different photos and one lady rotated the top page to suit the portrait photo she had and it looked stunning.

Well that is it for now.  Off to see if the paste is dry.  I will be back on Sunday with a special card I made this week.

"I'll Never Forget"

Today I have my entry for the August "Once Upon a Sketch Challenge"  "I'll Never Forget"  coupled with their sketch.  As one of my passions is preserving family history I chose to use a heritage photo. 

Here is my take on the sketch and journalling challenge.

 I have used Kaisercraft Patterned papers - a mix of "In the Attic" and "Sears and Son" and hidden the journalling in a little fold out book from the "Sears and Son" Pocket Watch papers. 

The journalling above says "I'll never forget the days of old, generations long past and keep their stories alive for future generations."  The other verse was on the papers.
 I random punched the outside edges of the paper and then framed the photo with a mix of punching, inking and stitching. 

 Some metal embellishments and a clock made from a Cherry Lynn Die have been added.

 I will add some more journalling on the back pages when I get some more information about Arthur Percival Dix.  I loved the photo of my DH's Great grandfather walking down the street and just had to scrap it.  I was told that DH has many likenesses to his great grandfather whom he never got to meet.

Today I have been stripping wallpaper, scrubbing, and  laying carpet - the result of a little mouse moving into our daughter's little childhood dolls house in our storage space so once scrubbed up it is now in our house awaiting finishing touches before being moved on to their home now that they have their own home.  We also found a few more things that will move on to other places but there is a long way to go.  I think those hoarder programmes are quite motivating.  Several times today I said "I am ready to part with this" - long may it continue lol.
