Vintage Fashion

Hello again and thank you for visiting today.  I am back again with another layout created with the new KaiserCraft "Hidden Treasure" Collection.

This time I thought I would enter the Dusty Attic September Challenge with it.

After creating the base of the layout I then used texture paste to add texture and pattern with a template.  I felt the page need blinged up a bit to match the photos so I dug into my hidden treasures and found some mesh trim and two lots of bead trim. I even found some pheasant feathers to add.   Dusty Attic items include the word 'may', hinge and chicken wire.

Some flowers are Petaloo with two being from deep within my stash.  I used another bit of this precious vintage trim.  There is a lovely sheet of rubons with the collection also.
It has been a while since I have added beads to a layout.
and of course I finished off the title pieces with liquid pearls.
and the DA Sketch by Michelle Grant.

Remember Joanne at Embellish It has these Kaisercraft "Hidden Treasure" patterned papers in stock if you wish to source some.

I am pretty excited as I am off to see my DGS and bring him up to Grannie's for a holiday however I will post a third "Hidden Treasure" page tomorrow.

Well that is all for today.  Have a good week....

Hidden Treasure & Scrapfriends

Thank you for visiting my blog today.  Welcome if you are here for the first time and 'Welcome Back' if you have come again.  Your visits are truly appreciated.

I am having a late run on challenges so decided to use my Design Team work for Embellish It  to create a page using the new release KaiserCraft 'Hidden Treasure' papers.  ... or as I was doing DT work decided to base it on the inspiration of a challenge so for this one I chose ScrapFriends.  I love their sketches but I think this is the first one done in time to enter.  They also have wonderful tutorials as well.

This is Sketch challenge #17 except I sort of flipped it upside down and moved my photo to the right side to suit both the paper and the direction of the photo (hope this is allowed SF)

and my take on the sketch. using the new Kaisercraft "Hidden Treasure" collection
I added some texture paste arrows and some real vintage buttons together with some very old cord alpha from myh stash. The page is of my DGS with the little wooden plane my Mum brought him.  Really I wish I had had the time to go and get the photo flipped to face the right instead of having to move the sketch arrangement but it wasn't to be.
Of course I had to add some liquid pearls.

Thanks Scrapfriends - it was fun playing along.   This snow layout was from another  ScrapFriends sketch.

The above "Hidden Treasure" papers are available at Embellish It - Email Joanne.  Pages will be on display there next week.

I will be back tomorrow with another in the Hidden Treasure range.

Until then....

"Pioneer" - Sketchabilities #99

Happy weekend everyone!!  It is a beautiful day here today for the first day of the holidays.  ....at least 'at the moment' it is - think it could be changing though.

Welcome if you are visiting for the first time and if revisiting thank you for your support.   Would love to know you have been.

For this month's Karan Gerber Sketchabilities #99 sketch I decided to scrap my 3x Great Grandmother (1838-1929).  I have always loved this photo of her sitting in the willow chair in her latter years.  I feel there is a connection to that chair as before I was aware of this photo I bought a child size willow chair for one of my girls and it is the same pattern.  She must have been an amazing woman - having 13 children of her own and acting as nurse/midwife circa 1875 in the early days of the settlement of the Feilding district prior to the district having a doctor. Her husband recorded the births before there was an official process and records.

I used an eclectic mix of papers - backing papers are K & Company (at back) and then an older Kaisercraft one punched around the edges and added texture paste, glimmer mist and some paint drips which ended up being covered in the beautiful coral lace but you can see them underneath.  The embellishing papers (Lyric), tag and chipboard together with right side flowers are all Prima and the left flowers Wild Orchid.  I dabbled once again with my trusty liquid pearls.

My journalling is included on the Prima tag as shown.

 and sketch #99
Thank you Sketchabilities and Karan Gerber for a great challenge.  If visiting the Sketchabilities site check out the header Sketch #98
I was lucky enough to be featured with my  'Hugs' layout.

Once again - thanks for visiting.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Until next time....

SATW - 'Wonder'

Thank you for taking the time to stop at my blog today.  Your visit is truly appreciated.

This month I really enjoyed playing along with Scrap Around the World's Mood Board September Challenge.  I was inspired by the little girl holding an adult's hand and also the top right image design together with the 'Black and White'.  It was a perfect opportunity to use these photos I have been intending to scrap for some time as well as the Bo Bunny patterned paper.   The mood board...

I called the layout 'Wonder' as the flower girl and page boy contemplate with amazement and bewilderment the important task in hand on 'the big day'.  The top right hand image also has a wonder and amazement feel to it and the busy patterned paper I used depicts the image also.  My Great niece is holding her Mum's hand and the pageboy his father's hand as they walk back down the aisle after the ceremony.  Also love the way father and son have their hands held while the ceremony was taking place.

So here is my page....
I used some luminiere paint to add some lavender to the BB Enchanted 'Love' paper to blend the flowers and paper together.  Shapes were cut  from the Enchanted "Fairytale" paper and used to matt/highlight the heads of the images.  Bo Bunny Enchanted embellishments were also used together with Manor House lace flower, a few Wild Orchid flowers, Websters Pages heart and some muslin and organza.

The paper had black glitter pattern on it although this is hard to see in the photo.
Journalling and details of the day are on the back of the layout.

I was pretty happy with the outcome.  I would love to know what you think by leaving a comment.

Almost the weekend - Have a good one.

Until next time....

Bathtime Fun with Creative Scrappers

Hello and thank you for visiting today.  Welcome if you are visiting for the first time via Creative Scrappers.

This month I thought I would have a go at the Creative Scrappers Sketch #251 so here is my take using photos of DGS in the bath he had to use until they shifted house recently - now he has a big bath which he loves.

The patterned paper is Bo Bunny  and circles assorted cardstock.  Alpha also Bo Bunny as are the four stickers. I used a Heidi Swapp Template with texture paste and iridescent paint to highlight parts of it and give more shine. It is definitely a layout which sparkles better in real life than a photo.  I have edged all the circles with KindyGlitz which pops the page.  The bubble punch is Martha Stewart.

I liked how the sketch allowed for lots of photos to be used.
and the sketch...
Thank you Creative Scrappers - I loved playing along with your sketch.

Until next time...

A Special 80th Birthday

Today is my Great Aunt's 80th Birthday.  Happy Birthday Auntie J.  We were supposed to travel to the deep South to celebrate with her but unfortunately my Mum is unable to travel due to her back problem so I couriered the card and am now sharing it today.

I included a photo of the birthday girl as a flowergirl for my grandparents and made a little box (birdcage paper) for it as well.
Flowers are Prima, Petaloo and Wild Orchid and the trim from a Bazaar.  I had been saving it for a special occasion but have some more for another special project too.

I ended up making a 24 hour visit to Dunedin to my DD's High Tea/Baby Shower and a catch up with DD's x3 and DGS.  Can't wait for him to come for a holiday at Granny's in the holidays. Look at the amazing cake Zarlene from Arbitary Cakes made for the occasion. It was delicious with the top layer being cider, lime and strawberry - the middle red velvet and cream cheese and bottom chocolate.  An amazingly talented lady.  Check out the link.

It was fun transporting it home in the car - had to drive like an ambulance with a fragile patient lol.

Hope you have had a good weekend.  Thank you for visiting today and wishing you a great week.

Until next time....

A Blast from the Past

Thanks for visiting today.  It seems like it's been a long week.....  Lucky it is a short one next week with South Canterbury Anniversary Day on Monday although with it being last week of term it will be an extra busy one.  Unfortunately my long weekend "Get Away" has not gone to plan so maybe some creating will suffice.   I am currently waiting on some molding paste to dry so that is a start.

Today I am sharing the layouts created for the class I took at the Embellish It Raincliff Retreat last month.  They are certainly a 'blast from the past' as they are made with resurrected wedding photos which I have been trying my best to 'bring back' after going all brown in the album due to the bad toner of 1978.   The class was called "Pretty It Is" and was created with Kaisercraft True Romance patterned papers and collectables.  It got the name when I asked someone what sort of class they would like and they said "something pretty".
The mesh is grungeboard cut with a die.

The large flower is from a haberdashery shop and purchased by the metre.  Small flowers are Wild Orchids.

Once again it was great to see all the outcomes with different photos and one lady rotated the top page to suit the portrait photo she had and it looked stunning.

Well that is it for now.  Off to see if the paste is dry.  I will be back on Sunday with a special card I made this week.

Have a lovely weekend.

Until next time....

It's Engraver Time

Thank you to all the class participants who took part in the "It's Engraver Time" class at the Embellish It Crop yesterday.  I tutored a lovely group of ladies, 7 of whom had come all the way from Christchurch and 4 Local ladies.  The class went well and they all seemed pretty pleased with their two layouts.  It was lovely to see the array of photos used and the different outcomes on the same layout as the Prima Engraver Collection is so versatile be it a modern photo or a vintage photo.  ... and I learned a thing or two from the participants too - thank you.   Hope all is going well with the two ladies creating the layouts at the Embellish It's  Oamaru Crop today.

If they look familiar you may have seen these layout before.  I first created them in April and then it was decided to make them into a class although the below layout had a few modifications from the first one and a different photo.  .

Thanks again ladies.

And the Oamaru Ladies - Lovely to see your completed pages in the photo sent by email from Joanne - Embellish It.

Today has not gone to plan - even had a ride in an ambulance with my Mum (in 2nd layout) this morning - severe pain from a back problem and couldn't lie or sit so it was an excruciating ride for her as they don't allow standing in the ambulance.  She got it sorted on the way home though (knelt on the back seat facing backwards - where there is a will there is a way)  Unfortunately these things will take time to get better so it is just day by day now ... and pain killers.   And poor little DGS (also in layout above) is not so well with the flu.  Hope they both get better soon.

Right - I am off to the craft room to have a BIG tidy up and hopefully produce a card.

Have a good week....
Until next time...

Sketchabilities #98

Hello and thank you for visiting my blog today.  Your visits are much appreciated.

If you live in NZ I hope you are all safe and well after this very stormy day today.  While I write this there is thunder and lightning outside after treacherous winds all afternoon.  We have lost a Golden Elm tree and part of an arch (that is before dark).  Anyway keep safe - it is supposed to continue until Thursday.

Today I am posting my entry in the Sketchabilities #98 sketch.  I couldn't resist this super sketch and just knew which photos I had to scrap.  I have used Bo Bunny papers and the large flowers for a RAK I was lucky enough to win from Stacey Young a while back.

And below I added a little texture paste bird cage.
Lots of my favourite liquid pearls again too.
and the inspiring sketch.  I think I will use this one again.   Thank you Karan Gerber of Sketchabilities.
Thank you again for visiting and I would love to know you have been by leaving a comment.

Enjoy the rest of your week.  Until next time....
