I have had a couple of days in Dunedin for a brief visit with my girls. Brrrrrrr was there a big frost here this morning - the grass and paddocks were white but the sun is out now and not a cloud in the sky.
Today I post my entry in this month's Prima BAP Sketch challenge. Created with the Prima Botanical collection I used the journalling cards to matt the photo of myself and my daughter on her wedding day. I used the Martha Stewart vintage lace punch and then punched strips of cardstock to matt the edges and bring in the border colour. The Botanical Collection stickers were used in the flower arrangement and top right corner. The words are Dusty Attic coated in liquid pearls and kindyglitz and the hinge painted with glimmer paint and embellished with pearls. The fern leaves in the arrangement were cut from the Botanical 6 x 6 pad and some bling, lace and pearl/organza trim added.
Well that is all for today. Off to make the most of the last days of the holidays. Unfortunately that means house chores instead of creating at this stage but if I work really fast maybe there could be some time left for creating........!! Oh and then there is the Embellish It Crop on Saturday.
Thank you for stopping by.
Until next time

Anzac Day and Memorabilia
Today in NZ and Australia we remember those served our countries during war times. Today I am sharing some layouts I created back in 2006, in my 2nd year of scrapbooking, so they are a bit different to the styles of today however I am still pleased with the way they are and the history they hold.
With any old memorabilia, I am fortunate enough have, I always feel that I am the custodian of the precious items so always copy or replicate the items to use on my scrapbooking pages.
With this first layout of my DH’s grandfather in WW1, I scanned his medals and then cut them out of the photo (with a craft knife), and then did the bravery medal he received separately to embellish the page with the newspaper cutting of the story of how he was awarded it. The photo on the left was cropped from the photo on the right and reversed so that it was the right orientation on the page. The gold tin was also in his memorabilia and contained a bullet which was presented as a commemoration token so this too is scanned. The right page contains a copy of his discharge certificate under vellum was printed and embossed with his name, barb wire and poppy and then the cut out medals attached. The certificate can be pulled out for closer inspection but does not impact the page too much. The postcards are copies and on the back I transcribed the words from the back of the postcards.
The 2nd layout is of my father-in-law’s involvement in WW2 for which we have a lot more memorabilia.
On the left page I used a pocket system to hold the copied items including his ship tag envelope which I copied and replicated, discharge certificate, details of his war involvement typed on a card, some mounted photos telling of some unfortunate times, a copied postcard and a replica of the telegram family received about his impending return. The pocket also contains a replicated pay book which I copied in colour, glued together and made a replica cover. On the right hand page are photos in filmstrips are of his time in Egypt – he left NZ a robust man, and the photos show his loss of condition during his time away. He returned home a sick man. Also included are his scanned medals, a photo pre war with his new wife in the corner (they were married on his final leave) and some Anzac poppies and postage stamps.
'Lest we Forget' those who served, and those who were not lucky enough to return.
Thank you for visiting.
Until next time ….

Dusty Attic April Challenge
Michelle Grant's sketch for April turned out to be a challenging one, however when I was sent these cute little photos last week (thanks Lynn), it made the task somewhat easier by at least having a topic.
Here is my take on the sketch. I played around with the photos and highlighted selected pieces of clothing and changed the colour.
Who remembers the little rhyme - at least the top line? (I added the bottom line for good measure). The subjects are two of my aunties and their neighbour's grandson circa 1950 (lol). They are pretty cute.
The borders are Dusty Attic DA0469 trim # 3 and the title is on DA0437 from a decorative frame set. The Prima paper from the Madeline Collection went well with the vintage look. I also added an old doily and some flowers that had been in my collection since I started scrapping in 2005 - good to use them. The butterfly is from Jenny Bowlin Studios and a Martha Stewart punch was used and also Prima lace, bling & alpha for the main title.
We have had a beautiful weather day today. I managed to take myself out of the scrap room to mow the lawns - good exercise on a lovely day but after 23 years of good service our reel mower has ceased (smoke coming from the motor) and I only had almost half of them done (we have about 1/4 acre of lawns). Now I have cleaned up the scrap room and am not returning until I have done all the chores - housework, ironing etc. It's too easy to get sidetracked when I have a project on the go.
Thanks for visiting.

Prima Mistables Canvas
As promised, today I share my creation on a Prima Mistables canvas. This cute little tot turned 2 a week ago and this photo was taken at her 'Wiggles' party. She looked very cute in her pink and black.
The photos are the only paper on the canvas with lace, beads, canvas and fabric flowers and canvas alpha providing the embellishments. Firstly I experimented with white washing the canvas leaving the areas where the words are just white washed and glimmer misting the remainder. I sewed the border and bottom black lace on, mounted the larger photo on canvas and sewed around it. The smaller photo was stitched directly onto the canvas but then the lace frame was glued on with Helmar 450 glue as were the other fabric flowers and laces. The string of beads were hand stitched on.
Unfortunately I did not have a suitable flower so ended up making some with flocked organza. The shapes for the one on the right were cut out using a Tim Holtz die and cuttlebug, layered with tulle and twisted together with some bright pink stamens and hand stitched to hold it all together.
These cute little butterflies were bought at a market in Australia a couple of years ago. For now I have hung the canvas on an embroidery hanger in my scrap room.
The Prima Mistables canvases are available from Embellish It. Speaking of Embellish It, Tania is holding a crop in Timaru next Saturday 30 April - see Embellish It website for more information on upcoming crops.
Thank you for visiting and for the comments on my recent roll of postings.

A Prima Card
Today in South Canterbury we are enjoying a lovely sunny mild Good Friday. Hope your day is going well.
Today's card was created with the Prima Botanical Collection 6 x 6 pad and journalling cards together with Prima lace, flower, leaves and a trinket. A little Magnolia stamped image sits centre stage. The punch is Martha Stewart Vintage Lace.
and the inside also using a journalling card.
This card is being sent with Get Well Wishes to a friend's Mum who has been unwell. I hope she is now on the road to recovery.
Thank you for looking.
Will be back tomorrow with a Prima Canvas Creation...

Prima Madeline Collection
This layout is of my Great Grandparents on their Wedding Day in 1903. We are lucky to have a colour photo of it and while I cannot remember the original source it was possibly developed in colour after the negative had been coloured.
I felt the Madeline Collection papers complemented the photo of this heritage type layout. I layered punched paper and lace to mat the photo, did quite a bit of fussy cutting of the flowers and arranged them, embossed opals onto the Dusty Attic lamp and added some Prima Bling and a piece of a Prima felt gate.
Just another short post as it is late again. No creating today but maybe tomorrow ....
Wishing you all a Happy and Safe Easter Weekend.
Thank you for visiting.

April Challenge
Birds of a Feather Craft Together April Challenge/Sketch was to distress. The challenge is also to scrap something from the month before. I decided the beautiful Prima Botanical Collection papers went perfectly with the beautiful wedding we attended at Twin Waters. My 'distress' was distressing the edges of the photo mat and also paper ripping and inking. The Dusty Attic pieces are glimmer misted.
The punched border was with a Martha Stewart Punch.
This layout went together really well. I am loving the Prima Botanical Collection but wish I had more of the flowers that go with it. However it was a chance to use some older ones from my stash.
Well that is all for today. I will be back tomorrow with some more. .... I have been on a roll with five more layouts planned.
Thank you for visiting.

A new Light & older Mini Album
It is a year since I moved to a bigger scrap room where the light was minimal and assisted by a Daylight lamp and another lamp in order to scrap at night however yesterday FINALLY I had a new bright light installed. I am sure it will help with taking photos as I won't have to rely on the day light. I am loving it so far.
Today I have been trying to figure out how to do slide shows on Photo bucket and also on my blog but after several attempts it will just have to be viewed backwards. All the photos on Photobucket are in the correct order as is the slideshow there but when I post the link it comes out backwards. Any ideas???
I made this little album two years ago for my Dad. The album was Prima and papers from a K & Co Pad with various embellishments. Below are a couple of favourite pages.
And this is the card to go with it - a wee go at paper tole (which Dad then put in a frame). I presented the album in an oval wooden box and have since added one all about their batch (i.e. holiday place / home away from home) and also a mini book on all the vehicles Dad has owned as he is very good at keeping records. I still have another in the pipeline about all the things that have been created in his sheds.
The holidays are going well so far. Well I am off to that nice bright light to decide what to do next.
Have a lovely week and thank you so much for visiting.
Take care

Three favourites -
... Websters Pages, Prima and Dusty Attic are used on this layout created at the Embellish It Scrap Camp. I had intended it to be for the Websters challenge for March but didn't get it done in time. And thanks to Beck's thoughtfulness she found this lace in an old lace and bits and pieces shop and thought of me so I put it to good use straight away. Thanks so much Becks.
Together with the Websters pp I used a Prima Journalling card, leaves and trinkets, matted the photo with Dusty Attic and also included was a handmade flower purchased in Australia, Wild Orchid flowers available at Embellish It and lace and decorative pins. On and as I haven't managed to find suitable title lettering it has been digitally added it in the meantime.
Speaking of Prima - I was lucky enough to get a mention for the April BAP. in their announcements today. Good to see a few New Zealanders in there.
So pleased it is the holidays and looking forward to some creative time this weekend but too tired tonight after a busy week.
Wishing you all a great weekend. Thanks for dropping by.
Until next time...

A little Brightness
The weather has redeemed itself albeit for a little while with three lovely days so far this week. Here is a bright coloured layout, to match, of a proud big brother with his twin baby sisters. The bright Prima papers toned with the bright colours in the photo and bold bright is certainly a change for me.
As the paper basically said it all I opted for a simple layout adding a top border and doing lots of fussy cutting of the bottom border to raise all the flowers to give dimension and highlight areas with bling.
However the photos probably don't do the layout justice but as it has been given away I can't take any more. This layout kept me busy on the Saturday night at Embellish It Raincliff Scrap Camp.
Thanks so much for visiting. Enjoy the rest of the week.

Speed Scrapping
Another busy week has raced past, but it is all good as it is Saturday and I am making time for some scrapping. It was supposed to be speed scrapping - just a couple of little 8x8's and then I would get onto some chores but it is 11.14 am already and I have 1.5 created and now I am side-tracked to the computer so just a quick post today with the result of my speed scrapping last weekend at the Embellish It Scrap Camp. We had 1.5 hours to create something with the contents of a bag. I managed to use everything in the bag and only add some pearls to the layout of my cute little Great Niece dressed as a cat. The photo went quite well with the paper selection I was given and I thought the birdcage went with the cat theme lol.
Tania had organised a lovely 'make & take' of fabric flowers which I thoroughly enjoyed and we were able to use these on our pages. Will definitely be making some more of these.
And I finished the butterfly by embossing Opals onto it. Just finished in the nick of time but 1.5 hours is a record for me.
I hope you are all having a relaxing weekend. At least it has warmed up a bit here as it felt like winter was here to stay around mid week but it is still not tropical though.
Thanks for stopping by. .... Until next time

Time for a change
I had been putting off trying to design a new blog header but thanks to the "Antique Finds' Header found at Shabby Blogs it made my task a whole lot easier. So that together with a bit of editing in my 'Ulead Photo Express' programme this is what I came up with.
We had a wonderful time at Raincliff Camp over the weekend and Tania of Embellish It was very organised with a well stocked shop, she and her team fed us well and provided a few challenges being Zumba (optional) and a Scrap Challenge with 1 1/2 hours to create a page, card or item with the contents of a pack she had provided. For me they were both challenges as with Zumba I found I could manage the leg movements but when I had to add arm ones too I got totally bamboozled - I lasted for about 40 minutes before ejecting from the room and deciding it wasn't really for me but at least I gave it a go. And the scrap challenge - well speed scrapping is not my forte but in the nick of time I finished a layout in the allocated time. Thank you Tania for providing such an enjoyable weekend.
Due to the atrocious weather today and it being dark this morning and when I arrived home photos of the weekend's creations have yet to be taken so I will share them later in the week. Three 12x12 layouts, four 8x8 layouts and a card was the total production at Raincliff and with the real mojo arriving when it was time to go home I cleaned the scrap room while putting everything back and managed another four quick 8x8 ones last night. It's great to have a tidy room to work in again as it had been a bit out of control.
I will leave you with an off the page project - another diaper cake and cradle made for a baby shower for little Harrison who arrived very early at 26.5 weeks but is now finally at home with his Mum and Dad.
We felt the orange ribbon gave it a funky look and matched the cute little monkey topper.
Well that's it for tonight. Bed time. Have a great week and thanks for visiting.
