Dusty Attic January Challenge

It was back to work on Monday for me and the week has flown by.  By adding a little bit each night I finally completed the DA January Sketch Challenge - a sketch by Trina McClune.
Here is my take using some DA goodies in a prize pack I received from them recently.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.  A quiet one for me and hopefully some more creating.

Thanks for visiting.
Until next time

Birds of a Feather Craft Together Challenge

Another week has slipped by and it is hard to believe it is January with the temperature outside.  The fire has been on for the last two nights. This week we had another few days camping  - this time at Mt Somers but once again packed up early due to the drizzly cold weather.  However we did have a relaxing couple of days (I did not pack any scrapping supplies lol) and managed a little kayak on Lake Heron before the rain and wind arrived.

Here is my take on the sketch over at Birds of a Feather Craft Together's site.

Also take a look at the amazing little mint tins that Sonya has decorated and included a mini album here and also Carol's take here.   They are so cute and must be so fiddly as they are made from little Eclipse Mint tins which are tiny.

Wishing everyone a great weekend. Sounds like good scrapping weather in this area anyway.  Thank you for visiting my blog.

Until next time   ......Dianne

Lots of Goodies

I have had two deliveries this week - the first one arrived and I thought "I haven't ordered anything this big" and when I opened it I got a huge surprise - a lovely box of goodies from Birds of a Feather Craft Together for being the lucky winner of their Card Challenge.  It was beyond all my expectations.
Carol and Sonya have their January Challenge up on the site so pop over and consider having a go.  See Sonya's creation here. I printed out some photos today to have a go myself.

Then a couple of days later a box of Dusty Attic goodness arrived (prize from October Challenge) so I am looking forward to creating some more.  Dusty Attic also have monthly challenges and a wonderful inspiring gallery.

Over on the Prima Blog at the beginning of the month they wanted to know reader's New Year's Resolutions and while I don't really make them I decided that this year I want to participate in their Build a Page Challenges and get them in early instead of last minute.  JANUARY - ACHIEVED.  A wedding layout of the Bride and Groom.

The majority are Prima items but thank you Birds of a Feather for the Pink Paislee Artesian Elements which just finished the journalling card.  Also used was a foam lily flower used for decorating on the day.  The Prima gate was cut into pieces and used in three places.  I liked the heart flourish on it and incorporated it with the Prima vine which had lovely calla lilies and hearts.

Thanks for visiting.
Bye for now

Cherish

I struggled to think of a title for this post so have gone with the title of the below layout.  My thoughts are with the people of Queensland and the devastation and tragedy the rain and floods are causing there.  We can only imagine what they are going through.   It is a stark reminder to cherish what we have every day.  I hope the rain stops in Queensland very soon.

Below is a layout of my Gr Gr Grandmother created using Dusty Attic, Webster's Pages, K & Co PP and Prima flowers & journalling card, old lace doilies, lace, pearls and buttons.  I used the title 'Cherish' as I cherish the fact that I am lucky enough to have a photo of her.  Married young, her husband died at the young age of 25, within 24 hours of taking ill, and leaving her with a young daughter and unborn son so she had to go to work to provide for them.  She later remarried and had three more children but died at the age of 50.

That is all for today.

Thanks for visiting.  Take Care.

SCKC Appeal

My pages for the Southern Cross Kids Camp were sent off on Wednesday and it is one of the parcels in Trina's post yesterday.  I am sure they will make the 900 pages for the Dunedin Camp.  Read Trina's blog to see that a Wellington Camp is now going to be held in April so if you have any spare time I am sure they will appreciate receiving some pages.

A massive clean out of my scrap room took place today and there is now  a bigger table to work on.  Plenty of left over papers were tidied and they will be ideal for making the little 6 x 6 pages.  Here are some of my favourites from this time, and of course they do not have to be complicated like some of these  but they were created when I was up camping and had more time and was enjoying myself in a creative mode.  The last 12 of the 50 pages were created in just two hours so were much simpler.

It may take a while.....

...to create a new blog header so in the meantime I am using a beautiful sunset photo taken by my s-i-l 'A' from our usual camp site.  Since we are not lucky enough to be seeing it over the holiday period this year we will be able to view it here.  It also seems apt for my blog title of Today for Tomorrow (the last of Today looking to Tomorrow ).

I had another lovely surprise yesterday when catching up on Dusty Attic.  I was the lucky winner of the October Sketch Challenge with my layout of my Dad, Terry on his Tricycle.

The layout was mainly created with Prima and Dusty Attic and I found the details of his Tricycle on the internet.  I must show Dad the layout and see if he has any memories about his tricycle that I could add to the layout.

Have you seen Ingvild Bolme's New Year Post?  She is giving away some Blog Candy if you leave a comment.

By the way I am liking the improvements Blogger have made to the way we create our blog posts.  It is much simpler and no cutting and pasting of the photos from the top to where you want them.  Thank you blogger.com.

That is all for today.  Thanks for stopping by.

Happy New Year

Wishing all the visitors to my Blog a Happy New Year. Thank you for your interest in 2010. A big thank you for those who have left comments too.

In a dry warm garage we joined all our fellow campsite evacuees to see in the New Year. For most it was the first time in 20 years they hadn't been at the campsite for New Year and by all accounts it "just wasn't the same" however we were making the best of the situation.

Yesterday, between creating a few salads for the evening barbecue, I managed to put together my entry for the Prima December BAP and then discover this morning that I might be too late but sent it any way.
The photo is of the flower girl and page boy at my daughter's wedding. The photographer was Tania Rae Photography and disappointingly the large majority of photos were on angles (I feel that straight photos are more conducive to scrap booking). However this cute little photo is one of about five that did look good on an angle but even then I have turned it for the layout.
For the larger flower I layered Prima flowers and tulle before adding the final flower which was then touched up with some Kindyglitz. Two little ribbon flowers left over from the flower girl dress were included on the layout. Organza ribbon (also leftover) was used for a bow and then rolled across the page. The title 'dreams' was Dusty Attic and glimmer misted.
The Prima papers are so cute and suited the BAP sketch well.
Thanks for visiting. Until next time .....

PS - Now I better start working on a new title image for this blog.
